As some of you know, earlier in the year we experienced problems with the site running extremely slow and it seemed the posting of fan art was possibly partially responsible, so we asked that no one post any more until further notice. Since that time I have done a lot of research - quite a few of the images posted were quite large in terms of bytes. I converted all of the images from images in the posts to links to the images. This seemed to speed the load time of the site up some - but there still seemed to be a problem with it being slow. I think part of the problem had to do with problems with the server (something beyond our control). After a while things seemed to speed up, but every time I've thought I was going to try to allow posting of fan art again - something has happened - whether it be finding the board was running slow again, being so busy with other things, etc. Also, I didn't want to start allowing images to be posted again just to find that shortly after we would have to ask that people stop posting again.

After a lot of research (coming up with reasonable guidelines for the posting of images, searching for some alternative options in case the site is slowed down when fan art is being posted again, etc.), we are happy to announce the opening of an all new Art Gallery section with separate forums for posting Fan Art, Photography, and Other Artistic Media (such as general avatars, banners, drawings, paintings, etc.).

With the opening of the new section (which has a different format and different guidelines), we will be removing the old Fan Art gallery (in our Links area) soon and asking those who already posted images in the old area to repost in the new section if they wish for the images to appear on the board.
